Welcome to St. Monica Early Learning Centre! We serve the families who live in the community of Riverbend in southwest Edmonton and surrounding neighbourhoods which include Haddow, Falconer Heights, Henderson Estates, Rhatigan Ridge, Ramsay Heights, Brookside, Brander Gardens, and Windermere Estates.

St. Monica School is an amazing school for early learners where we weave our tales of wonder, create a place and space to dream and to believe in our hearts...all that is beautiful for children (100 Voices, Kindergarten and Grade 1).   Our school focuses on the Reggio Emilia philosophy which enables and promotes the many expressive languages of children. Teachers and students work together to document the learning process and content.

Through a shared vision of relational work, we place our “Children First” in all decisions which impact their learning. We are committed to building a Catholic, Christian Community which prepares and inspires our children to be symbols of light and hope in an ever-changing world. Our school has at its core student learning. Honouring human potential - academic, spiritual, creative, physical, emotional and social development is an educational goal of St. Monica School. Teaching and learning is focused on research and “leading practices” resulting in high academic achievement, self-confidence and an infectious love of learning.  A partnership with Concordia College, Grant MacEwan and the University of Alberta through teacher education and research plays a significant role in our work with children.

Our teachers are deeply committed to academic excellence and a progressive philosophy of education. We are a highly collaborative staff that mentors one another while also graciously welcoming teachers from other schools and districts to come learn with us.

St. Monica is referred to by many as a “magical place”. Through teacher commitment, parent enthusiasm and an enriched learning environment, we capture the imagination of children and challenge their thinking and desire to learn. We are confident that your child will experience such a rich and rewarding education here at St. Monica’s in a Christ-centred environment where our Catholic faith is celebrated.
